Sophie had her pregnancy X-ray, and we can clearly see six tiny skulls and spines! It’s always such a special moment to get a little sneak peek at the new lives growing inside her.
Why We X-Ray Expectant Mums
X-rays are typically done in the final week of pregnancy, once the puppies’ bones have calcified enough to be visible. This lets us:
Estimate litter size — so we know when labour is complete and all puppies have arrived safely.
Prepare for whelping — having an idea of how many pups to expect helps us get the whelping area ready with the right amount of supplies and space.
Support mum’s health — it helps us ensure Sophie’s labour plan is as safe and stress-free as possible.
What’s Next
With just days to go, we’re getting everything ready for her big day — fresh bedding, heating pads, whelping supplies, and of course, plenty of cuddles. Sophie is doing beautifully, calm and content as ever, and we can’t wait to welcome her six little bundles of joy into the world.
Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more updates once her puppies arrive 💕
