Textured exploration for tiny paws!

Today we added the big crate and the slightly raised toilet tray (all our pups puppy packs come with this articulated grass toilet 😊) as well as some fun textured areas to explore!

The world is a brand new adventure for a 4-week-old puppy! Everything they encounter is a new experience, from the wobbly feeling of their own legs to the strange sounds their siblings make. But did you know that different textures under their tiny paws are important for their development?

Just like human babies, puppies learn through exploration. By feeling different surfaces, like soft blankets, hard floors, and maybe even a little bit of grass (with supervision, of course!), they develop their sensory system. This sensory stimulation helps with things like balance, coordination, and proprioception (their body awareness in space).

Textured exploration is important for:

  • Brain development: All this new information helps to fire up the puppy's neural pathways, which is crucial for cognitive development.

  • Confidence building: As they navigate different textures, they'll gain confidence in their ability to explore their surroundings.

  • Stronger bodies: The varied terrain helps to strengthen their muscles and improve coordination.

Exploring different safe surfaces under our watchful eye is a fun way to help them develop into happy, healthy, and well-adjusted doggos!
