Today was a big day in our puppy enrichment program, with a few thoughtful changes designed to gently stretch the puppies’ confidence and curiosity.
We introduced a brand new bed in the crate, helping them build a positive association with a calm, safe resting space. Early crate experiences like this are so important, not just for future training, but for helping puppies learn how to settle, self-regulate, and feel secure in their own little “den.”
Their play area has also been expanded, giving them more room to explore, move, and interact with one another. Increasing space at the right time encourages independence, builds confidence, and allows for more natural play behaviours to emerge.
We added textured tiles underfoot, which might seem simple, but are incredibly valuable. Different surfaces help puppies develop coordination, balance, and body awareness, while also preparing them for the variety of environments they’ll encounter
in their new homes.
And finally, a mirrored play cube, always a favourite! Mirrors encourage curiosity and engagement, as puppies investigate their reflection and build confidence interacting with something “new.” It’s a wonderful way to support cognitive development and early social skills.
These small, intentional changes are all part of helping our puppies grow into adaptable, confident, and well-rounded companions
